The flatplan overview screen is accessed by clicking on the issue from the Dashboard (Home screen) or the Publication screen. The flat plan overview screen gives you a condensed view of the flat plan.
On the left side bar of the Flat Plan Overview Screen, the Navigation Menu and the Actions Menu are displayed.
You can hide or show these menus by clicking the three-bar toggle icon at the top left of the screen.
The colours on the flat plan correspond to the statuses of artwork, adverts and content:
- Green: Advert is ready
- Light green: Content is ready
- Amber: Advert awaiting action from a customer
- Light amber: Content awaiting action from a customer
- Pink: Advert not ready
- Light pink: Content not ready
- Grey: Page partly filled
- Other colours: you may see other colours if you have set artwork statuses with your own custom colours.
If you hover over one of the pages, a pop up of the page will appear displaying the uploaded artwork.
The Navigation Menu
The Navigation Menu found on the left sidebar of the Flat Plan Overview links to the following screens- more detail on each section is given below
- Manage Adverts – Displays the artwork of the booked adverts for the issue.
- Manage Content – Displays the artwork of the booked content for the issue.
- Quick Layout - Provides an overview of all the content & adverts on the flatplan and the main settings of the layout for each page.
- Advertisers Index – Contains the settings to create an advertiser index.
- Content Index – Contains the settings to create a content index.
- History – A record of changes made on the flat plan.
The Manage Adverts and Manage Content lists
If you click on Manage Adverts in the navigation sidebar menu, you will see a list of all your advert bookings for the issue you are working on. Similarly, if you click on Manage Contents, you will see a list of all your content bookings.
The list is colour-coded by the artwork status, so you can see at a glance which bookings are complete (green tick) and which are not (red X). If the booking has been set on the flat plan, you will see the page number in the Page column.
By clicking on the up-and-down icon at the top of each column, you can sort the list by each of the column fields.
You can also use the search box to find a particular company, or to find all the bookings assigned to one of your users.
Clicking on a company name will take you to the bookings for that company.
Clicking on the booking title will take you to the artwork details for the booking, where you can update the status, upload artwork or add notes.
Quick Layout Screen
Provides an overview of all the content & adverts on the flatplan and the main settings of the layout for each page.
From the flatplan overview screen > Click Quick Layout in the navigation sidebar. The video above provides an overview of the screen & the settings.
The Adverts Index and Contents Index lists
If you click on Adverts Index in the navigation sidebar menu, you will see a list of all your advert bookings for the issue you are working on, including the section. Similarly, if you click on Contents Index in the navigation menu bar, you will see a list of all your content bookings.
TIP: Clicking on any booking in the list will take you to that booking in the Flat Plan
These lists are simpler than the Manage Adverts and Manage Contents lists, and provide a simple way get an overview of your advert and content and locate these in the flat plan.
History
From the flat plan history screen you can find a time and date history of your team’s actions placing and moving artwork on the flat plan
Go to the flat plan overview screen of the publication and issue you want, and click on History in the Navigation sidebar.
The Actions Menu
The Actions menu found on the left sidebar of the Flat Plan consists of white buttons giving you the following options:
- View Flat Plan – go to the Flat Plan
- AutoPublish Option
- Add/Remove Pages
- Place Adverts - (Copy a previous flat plan)
- Flatplan Notes
- Manage Sections
View Flat Plan
Click View Flat Plan to take you directly to the main flat plan screen.
Auto Publish Options
Click Auto Publish Options to be presented with options below

Add/Remove Pages
1. From the Flat Plan Overview screen > Select Add/Remove Pages.
2. You can add 2 new pages by dragging the yellow new pages icon down to the position in the flat plan you want them.
Place Adverts - (Copy Previous Flat Plan)
If you wish to start the flat plan for a new issue by duplicating the flat plan from the previous issue of the publication, MagManager lets you do this using the 'Place Adverts' function.1 - From the Flat Plan Overview screen > Select Place Adverts
Flat Plan Notes
Notes can be added it two ways:
1. From the Flat Plan Overview Screen > Select Flat Plan Notes under Actions in the sidebar.
2. Click the small note icon on the top navigation bar next to the Find box, at the top of both the Flat Plan Overview screen and the main Flat Plan screen.
A pop up notes box will appear. You can move the notes around to a convenient position as you work or click the X in the top right corner to hide the notes box. If you click on the note icon again, the note box will reappear.
If a note has been created the note icon on the top navigation bar will flash pink.

Manage Sections
This will only be visible if you have Shared Sections switched on.
Shared sections can be used if you publish multiple magazines and duplicate the same adverts & content across a section of pages. Example - you publish two 64 pages magazines with a shared section of 32 pages across both magazines.Detailed notes can be found in the link below:
